snow flurries?? in October??

Yep. Yesterday, Sarah and I left the house to head to Greeneville for Kindermusik. I was expecting a normal cool fall morning. We were both wearing long sleeves, so I figured (like most normal fall mornings), we would be fine without jackets. Silly me.

We didn't need jackets--we needed coats! It was cold!!!

Furthermore, when I stopped to put gas in my car, I realized that it was also snowing! Okay, so they were just flurries, but still. It's October! What are snow flurries doing showing up in October?!

Sarah was excited. She kept saying, "Snow more! Snow more!" Why? Well, my little fashionista had a reason. "I want to wear my snow boots!"

she cracks me up

Nelson will frequently crack his knuckles or his neck or back or whatever. I can crack my wrist or fingers pretty much at will. Occasionally I can crack my neck or something as well. Sarah has noticed all this and has started trying to crack various parts of her body as well. This led to an amusing conversation last night that I thought I would share. :)

Sarah was sitting and felt the need to crack her ankle or something (I don't really remember what; it isn't important). She said, "I need to crack my body. But I don't want to crack it open. I better crack it while it's closed to stay safe!"

postscript on doctor visit

I can't believe I forgot to relate this conversation in the previous post on the doctor visit. It was such a funny conversation, but it just totally slipped my mind until I was telling Nelson about later. I blame pregnancy brain. ;)

Anyway, Sarah was of course with me at the doctor's office today. When Dr. B came in to conduct the appointment, he greeted Sarah and asked her name. She responded, "My name is Sarah." (Truth be told, it's amazing that she gave her correct name. She often changes it to whichever character happens to be her favorite that day.)

"What?" Dr. B teased. "Cinderella?"

"No, Sarah!" she insisted. (Again, I'm somewhat surprised by this response since she's such a Cinderella fan.)

"Oh," Dr. B said. "Something about you just reminds me of Cinderella. Do you know who Cinderella is?"

And here is where Sarah's response is just priceless. She did this hilarious little hair flip and announced, "Yes, she's a princess like me!"

I have a date for you! Assuming Baby cooperates (which may not be a safe assumption, of course), we should know gender in about 3 weeks. The ultrasound is scheduled for Nov. 11 at 9:00 a.m. So here's hoping that they get a clear shot, and that I will actually have news to share on that day. :) Maybe Uncle Nick's Veteran's Day present will be knowing whether he's having a niece or a nephew! :)

We did get to hear the heartbeat today, and so far everything seems fine. I even managed to find a parking space at the hospital, so that was definitely a plus! :)

back at home

We returned from vacation yesterday. Sarah cried when it was time to leave our lovely mountain cabin (who could blame her? It's much nicer than our house!). Plus, her Grandma and Grandpa and Uncle Nick and Aunt Tara weren't coming home with us, so there was another big bummer. But when we got home, a large box was waiting at the house. It was a toy box (pink, with Disney princesses) that I had ordered with a gift card from her Uncle Dave. Sarah was sooooo excited about that toy box. In fact, when we headed to Wal-Mart later that evening to pick up a few groceries, she tried to tell everyone in the store about it! She kept saying, "Excuse me? I have a new princess box!" Unfortunately, no one was paying attention to her, and no one cared about her wonderful new acquisition (what's wrong with the people at Wal-Mart, anyway?). :( So we came home and phoned her Mike and Mumsy, so she could share her exciting news about the toy box with them. That made her feel better. :)

blogging break

Tomorrow we are heading to Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge for a week-long vacation. I will be away from the computer all week, so no updates will be posted. However, I'm sure I'll have lots to post when we return! :) I hope everyone is doing well! See you soon!

conversation in car

Sarah and I traveled to Bible study this morning. I now have a name for Sarah's "boyfriend" from a couple of weeks ago--Ethan. :) So now at least I know what to call my future son-in-law! ;)

The study takes place at Celebration Church. Sarah refers to it as "the party church." :) This really tickles my funny bone!

As we were driving home after the study this morning, we drove past a local barbecue restaurant. As we drove past, Sarah said, "Mommy, we need to eat there! Everyone's waiting for us!"

Confused I asked, "Who is waiting for us?"

"Everyone at the restaurant!" Sarah insisted. "They want us to eat there!"

We went back and forth for a few minutes on the whole eating-at-the-restaurant idea. I told her that we couldn't eat there today. "But I wanted to!" she wailed.

"I know. I'm sorry," I replied in an attempt to be sympathetic.

But Sarah is not one for sympathy. "No, you're not! I don't want sorry! I want to eat there!"

Seeing the words in type make them sound very sassy and disrespectful, I know. But they really weren't in tone. She was simply bewailing the fact that we couldn't do this thing that she wanted to do. And I found it hilarious that she "didn't want sorry." She wanted a yes! :)
